As a kid, I had one very strong desire, I wanted to fly. Even through my
teen years, as other interests pulled me here and there, the desire to fly
remained a stationary part of my life. As life progressed, God's hand was
in everything I did, guiding me through several jobs, learning skills and
starting a family. Yet the desire to fly was still strong in my heart.
At the age of 27, God moved me into place as youth pastor at our church,
the Evangelistic Center Church, in Olathe, Kansas. In this place God has
transformed my relationship with him into a great personal, one on one
relationship with Him. My desire is to let the youth of this generation see
and know that God is real and His desire is a personal relationship with
them, not just an "I know who He is" relationship, but an "I know WHO He is
and He knows me" relationship. I want to see these kids have what I didn't
at their age. I have come very close to my "kids" in our youth group and
desire to share this with even more kids through EagleFlight.
Once I took my place as youth pastor and my relationship grew
exponentially, God began opening up the desires of my heart, the first
being flight. As I was growing up, my dream was just to get my private pilot
certificate and fly a little bit. Little did I know that God had other plans.
Through no planning from me, God opened a door through Utah Valley
State College's online degree program and I was able to begin flight
training. He took me from a desire to fly just a little into a career pilot and
instructor flying every day. I love my job.I have four passions in my life.
They go in this order: God, my family, youth and aviation. Married to my
wife since 1998, we have four children, Kayleigh, Tyler, Andrew and Caleb.
For a long time I prayed that God would show me how to bring my passion
for youth and aviation together and the outcome is EagleFlight Aviation
Ministries. The desire on my heart is to build a camp dedicated to aviation
and building that personal relationship with God. Please pray for us as we
begin this endeavor and stay posted here for updates to see how God is
brining this all together.
